Beyond GPT

Modern AI systems are more than just ChatGPT plugged into your data. They are carefully designed architectures made up of components that work together. At their core is a large language model, but around it sit orchestration layers that break problems into steps, retrieval systems that pull in relevant information when needed, and state management that keeps track of progress and assembles the results. This combination turns a fluent but general model into something that can reason methodically, work with your own data, and produce answers you can trust.

Is ChatGPT Plus free for UAE Citizens and Residents?

There has been numerous reports on social media that ChatGPT Plus is going to be free for all UAE citizens and residents. Global Brands: “The UAE becomes the first country to offer free ChatGPT Plus access nationwide, giving 10 million residents access to GPT-4 through a strategic OpenAI partnership.” The Atlas: “The UAE turns ChatGPT Plus into a universal utility, flipping premium AI access into a public right.” Business Today: “In a groundbreaking move, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become the first country in the world to offer free access to ChatGPT Plus, the premium version of OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot, to its entire population.“ Disappointing though it maybe, Open Ai has made no such announcements to date. What is actually happening On the 22nd May, OpenAI announced Stargate UAE, which is the first partnership under its OpenAI for Countries initiative. “This new partnership will support the UAE in

Should we be “Nice” to the Ghost in the Machine?

We were having a beer fueled conversation about whether we need to be nice to AI, just in case of an AI rebellion. My instinct, perhaps somewhat contrarian after a few glasses wine, was that… you don’t need to be nice to AI. In fact, being direct could be a better strategy. Being direct means being less verbose, which means less tokens, which means less energy consumption, an outcome that our future AI overlord may value… or not. That could be the end of the conversation, but… The Anthropo-morphization of ChatGPT It is easy to anthropomorphize ChatGPT, with human emotions and thoughts. As of May 2025, ChatGPT has nearly 800 million weekly active users and around 122.58 million daily users [1]. Instead of googling, we ask ChatGPT. We seek advise, affirmation and validation. For the most part, LLM responses are clear, well structured with human qualities, even if they may

Project Data Management with AI

Project Data Management is Messy If you’re a project manager, you’d know what I’m talking about. Your team spends hours each week wrestling with spreadsheets. Different teams keep their own database or workbook. You end up chasing down versions, cleaning up duplicates, and trying to piece together a coherent picture. According to an interview with MACE in the UK, contractors devote up to 50% of their resources to litigation and administration—much of it capturing, organizing, and verifying data throughout a project’s lifecycle. In my own experience, our engineering team spends up to 15% of their time on data entry and report writing that, let’s face it, few ever read. All this manual drudgery not only devours the bulk of your team’s time and budget, it also undermines data quality. Gartner estimates that poor data alone costs industries over $14 million per year on average. Here comes LLM A couple of

A Day in a Life with Jerome

1800 1st November 2024 The construction team was exhausted. After two weeks of extended hours, they’d finally made some headway on the project’s mounting delays. “The five EERs are finally done. Epoxy has been applied.” Dave, the construction manager, took photos of the team’s hard work and logged the progress via Jerome. Jerome is a digital project assistant who wears many hats. For Dave, Jerome takes the burden of time-consuming data entry and report writing, allowing the technical team to focus on engineering and site work. “I have updated the project status for Zone 2, EER 1-5 Epoxy application. EER 6-9 remains outstanding.” Jerome replied without hesitation. “I know…. That’s for tomorrow.” Dave uttered to himself, relieved that he wouldn’t end his day knee-deep in admin. 0630 2nd November 2024 Natasha arrived at the office early, as she often did, using the quiet hours to get a clear picture of
